The company at present has two permanent actuarial staff. In addition we have, from time to time, student on attachment who is doing an actuarial degree.

Brief CVs for the permanent members of staff are as follows:

Mark Andrew Hyde (Managing Director and Actuary)

Permanent resident of Zimbabwe. Obtained MA (Hons.) degree in mathematics at the University of Cambridge (Jesus College) in 1976. Qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1988.

Employers: Joined Willis Corroon (then Willis Faber) in 1976 and worked in the valuation department until 1983. Seconded to Willis Faber in Zimbabwe in 1983 to help establish the Zimbabwean actuarial company. In 1988 was appointed Managing Director of the company. From 1995, MD of the same company now independent and renamed Pentact.

Other matters: he has served on numerous committees within the pensions industry and specifically has been a member of the Advisory Committee, Deputy Chairman and Council member of the Zimbabwe Association of Pension Funds, Chairman of the Taxation subcommittee, a member of the Legislation subcommittee a member of the committee of the Actuarial Society of Zimbabwe and is currently on a committee established by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe to advise on financial reporting.

Linda Mary Harwin (Senior Actuarial Assistant)

Zimbabwean citizen. Obtained BSc (Hons.) degree in mathematics at Rhodes University, Grahamstown. Has qualified for the Institute of Actuaries; Certificate in Actuarial Techniques. Employed in Old Mutual's actuarial department from 1981 to 1985. Part time employment within the Willis Corroon Group from 1985 to 1995. From October 1995 onwards, employed by Pentact.
